certain types of torts are a no for vivs. as andy has mentioned a conservatory temps cannnot be controled to hot in the summer to cold in the winter.

as for heating that has to be your choice, would keep reading info.

would a viv work at night only, then a tortoise table during the day??

torts dont like to get confused so changing from one too the other might just do that they like familiar surroundings. i know you mentioned you were getting a table that should be fine but i would keep something over the top of at least half the table perhaps you could fit a ceramic heater to it.

I prefer mine in a viv so you can see what there up too (mostly sleeping)

but with viv's you have to make sure there's plenty of ventalation.

a viv suits me wereas a table may suit you, its a personal choice . you could have a word with marcus he will know lots of keepers and will keep you on track, he's always really helpful.

i personaly think you need to re-think were you will keep the tort a conservatory is not suitable for reasons already mentioned.

heat wise night time a ceramic or infra (i personally would not recommend a heat mat) fitted with a thermostat

approx 15 months got them of marcus last september.

We keep stars (from Marcus) in an open "table" (actually an IKEA underbed storage tray) with a humid hide (seed tray with transparent cover and doorways cut into it) sunk into the substrate. There's a ceramic heat emitter permanently on, warming both part of the hide and an area outside it. Daytime, basking lights and UV tube.
When room temps are really low, we put the hinged cover on half of the the tray just to trap some of the heat from the ceramic emitter.
But I wouldn't recommend a conservatory that you know is going to be cold. Living room? Sitting room? Bedroom?

We keep our stars in my daughters bedroom which is the warmest room in the house. (she only comes home for visits). The room is also draught free which is very important. Stars can be very sensitive, so you would need to make sure the room you keep it would have stable temps. Just wondering why you are thinking of the conservatory for it?
