Default Advice Please, Insulation for Shed/summer house

We have a large summerhouse/shed and will be moving some of the torts tables in there, just wanting some advice. Have been looking at the Kingspan and Celotex insulation boards, but there are different types and different thicknesses. Just wondering what others have used.

Hi Laraine, Kingspan is the best the thicker it is the better, but higher priced, it depends on what you can afford. There are some polystrene sheet also different thickness at B&Q's and builders merchants, i was lucky to be given some 40mm thick polystyrene, which did the 4 walls, and went for some reduced sheets of 50mm Kingspan from B&Q, which were slightly damaged corners missing, just cut the bad bits off, to do the floor and roof. There is also some like bubble plastic stuff, again cheaper so not so thermal rated and some loft fibre glass stuff, but safer to use now, with a plastic coating on top. Each one is rated in thermal quality and price dictates, it is prob one of the product's that the most expensive is the best on the heating bills.

Thanks Paul and Kelly, I have found a couple of places on line that can supply the Kingspan and the Celotex much cheaper than B&Q. We calculated we need 10 to 12 sheets of the 2400mm x 1200mm, so just have to decide on the thickness now.

Hi, if the roof is quite high, it might be worth putting a lower ceiling on part of it (insulated of course) about table height. The heating will be concentrated in one smaller area and it wont be so expensive to maintain and much more cosy.

The table/bench will be useful for storage or growing plants on through the winter.

Others will have other ideas - this is just mine.

If you post some pics we can all see it progress.
