Horses stolen Manchester/Carrrington/Altrincham
Spirit is a 15.2hh grey with a distinctive scar on his right hind leg and was taken sometime after 21.30 on Sunday night or early hours of Monday morning. He belongs to a friend of a friend who is absolutely frantic with worry. Spirit was stolen from fields in Carrington. I've just been informed that 2 more chestnut thoroughbreds between 16hh-17hh are misssing from a similar area this morning. Please keep an eye out for any strange horses turning up in fields/yards etc near you and if you own horses please be vigilant!

It's so scary! I'm checking my horses all the time at the mo just in case! Don't know what I'd do if anything happened to them! Xx

Can you microchip horse? so that you can check if you are buying a horse that they are realy up for sale and not stolen.
These people who steel animals or anyother property for that matter make me sick but sadly they have no cocience so have no feelings of guilt or remorse. I realy hope your friend gets Spirit back my fingers are crossed. Sue |

Yep, horses can be microchipped and they all have to have a passport now as well. Spirit has both a microchip and a passport but unfortunately people don't tend to scan for a microchip when buying a horse, especially at auctions and horse fairs. I is believed that slaughterhouses don't always check either xx

freeze branding them can deter a thief and is more or less the same as chipping only obvious, any branded horses should be checked through the sales ring etc, unless things have changed since we had horses I always thought branding was the best way I don't think you can hide it very easily.
