Default New tortoise owner advice please??

Hi just a bit of advice I am after please. I have bought 2 Horsefields, one last Wednesday ( a male we have been advised ) and today another one a female. They are both apporx 2 years of age although the male is slightly bigger. When I put the female into the Viv today at first, the male attacked her a few times but now seems ok, but they do keep climbing on top of each other, is this normal behaviour?? I have been trying to take tham off each other, but obviously cannot be wtaching them at all times, and dont wnat to be doing wrong? Any advice appreciated. Thanks

I wouldnt worry about them climing on each other, although if they continue to fight you might need to seperate them. and if their only 2, its not definate they will be male and female.

Hi, great to have 2 isnt it!

You could ask the previous owner if they fought before you got them? I am assuming you bought them from the same person for quarantine reasons.

If they did then they are ones to watch just incase. Mine climb ontop of each other with out probs. I hope you dont have to separate them, got any pics to share?

best of luck and enjoy your babies.

How big are they? Let them settle in a bit. A female will ram a male. It is not gender specific.

It depends on the size of the tortoises and the size of the viv. Sometimes a viv is better than a table... it depends on the situation and it is not species specific.
