Flavoured Cuttlefish.
Found this on Ebay and just wondered if anyone else feeds their tortoises these...would the flavour encourage a tortoise to eat cuttlefish more?

I'm sure it would encourage them to eat it but I would be a bit worried as to what chemicals were in the flavouring if it was 100% natural then could be worth a try but if not leave alone also they probably over dose on it if it tasted too good.

I thought the whole point of extra calcium such as cuttlefish or limestone flour is that the tort will eat it if it needs it not because it tastes nice, if they chomped on it as food couldn't they overdose on it. My female ibera would eat limestone but only when she was carry eggs, the male never bothered but the hatchlings would and so would my fast growing young sully which to me proved the need for it at certain times not all the time.

I agree that it might not be a good idea to provide extra enticement to eat cuttlefish. If the tortoise needs it I think they would nibble on it. Especially if it's given a rub down under a running tap before being offered.

That's what I was sort of getting at I know what my lot are like if I give them any odd bits of fruit (not very often ) they will go mad for it so I could see the same thing happening with fruit flavours on cuttlefish they wouldn't eat it for the calcium it would be the fruit taste.

who are putting tortoises under taps? if possible a quick visit to the beach if able usually throws up loads of natural cuttlefish - straight to the door ! torts have a smile but some of mine won't touch it. Personally I wouldn't bother with flavours - it is like crisps , you like what you like and that's not changed in years? ..... CB

Yes they will eat up their cuttlefish if they've had a rubbing over under the tap first!
