T. hermanni can breed at any time if kept active throughout the year however, a peak in breeding activity is common in spring and once again in late summer as in August and into September. This has not been observed by everyone, but several authors and keepers including myself, have experienced this. The behavior resembles that of Blanding's and North American wood turtles, who also exhibit these peaks in breeding activity during the same times of year. It is possible to get eggs at any time of the year but the norm would be in spring and early summer.
