Tortoise with Issues. . .
hi all
I currently own a 4 year Horsfield named Pickle and I can't decided whether she's a bit moody or just doesn't like me lol She's now bit me TWICE . . . but she's never bit my partner and always comes out of her shell for him! (Even so I feed her and clean her out!) Has anyone else come across this? Just wondering if by any chance she's become territorial towards him? |

I don't think Pickle biting you is an issue, Baron loves to see if he can get a bite of the fingers! Once he is warmed up, fingers are a priority over the weeds!
Baron is also out of his shell as soon as he hears a voice or noise in his room, but I think that might be the thought of food rather than company! Maybe Pickle is just a bit more of a loner and would rather keep herself to herself. Unless your OH is giving her treats behind your back!! ;0)

I'm lucky, my 2 have never bitten me yet. They bite my OH's toes though and probably would mine if I didn't move them out the way

I think it's more likely your tort associates you with food. My Norm quite often goes for my fingers, especially if he thinks he's not getting the best of the weeds!

I didn't know they could/would bite!
Karma always puts her neck right out (the way they do under their lamp) for me to tickle under her "chin" & she loves me stroking her head .. bless

Colin loves to have his head rubbed and under his chin but when he's not in the mood he will try to bite me! Sometimes when I disturb him by cleaning around him he will try to chase me out of his enclosure, it's very funny! He used to pull his head in at the sight of my OH but now he lets him rub his head.
I wouldn't worry, I'm sure Pickles loves you! |

Each time I see the title of this thread I find myself singing the Saturdays song "Me and my heart we got issues", but sing "tort" instead of "heart"!!
I'm in the house on my own, I think I must be going slightly mad!
