Hiya

i set mine for 12 hours, but if they have "bedded" down earlier, I do sometimes switch it off a couple of hours early.

Hi Jason,

i have a timer on my tort lamp too which i change with the seasons, at the moment it is on about 11 hours a day, in the summer i will have it on for much longer than that, maybe 15 to 16 hours per day, if they are not outside. i think this helps with giving the torts a concept of seasons.

Mine are on about 13 hours on average. But if they go to their hides or dig down before this i turn the lights off.

Hi Jason,

I have my active UV heat lamp on from 7.30am to 8pm, and is on a timer.

Night time there is no extra heat except for the house ambiant temperature and this rarely drops in the tortoise table under 12 degrees c, this is perfectly ok if it falls to between 8 and 10 degrees on the odd occassion as in the wild some nights are cooler than others.

I watch my tortoises for a week or two, to see what time they go to bed. They do get into a
routine. Then set the switch off time to fifteen minutes after they go to bed.
