I wouldn't say I'm a fan of yours EJ, your post just came up on a Google search, I thought if was interesting and book marked it. At the time I just thought you were another Andy Highfield fan who had been reading the TT safer hibernation guide.

So you have changed your mind you now don't think anything above 0°C is acceptable and 3°C is not a safe low limit. Can I ask why, what new evidence is there suggesting keepers should hibernate a "PET" Med Tortoise at 10°C (TEN) or above ?

I've only had 33 years experience of hibernating and I have already stated the benefits I've found of hibernating in a controlled environment like a fridge compared to box hibernating.

I know for a fact that if I tried to hibernate my ibera at 10°C or above I would just end up with a very sick tortoise.
But luckily I do have my own mind and I'm not willing to believe all the rubbish written on the Internet, so I'll carry on hibernating at 5°C and end up with a happy healthy active tortoise come the spring.

Very interesting because I was just about to start a new thread on that very subject
