There is a graph called The McIntyre ratio for Horsfields but I don't believe that it's generally considered to be as definitive as the Jackson ratio for Hermanns? There is a link to it somewhere on SW (maybe in the caresheets section?) There is apparently a Mcintyre ratio for juvenile horsfields too which would be of interest to me but trying to find it is like searching for El Dorado!

I have the graph but I don't believe it's accurate, according to the graph my Tortoise is underweight but I feed him continuously and he eats non-stop all day, every day. I don't think there's any possible way that he could eat any more in order to get fatter, that's why I thought it better to record real world results and compare them.

You're right Pumpkin, I think I remember reading (though I could be wrong) that the McIntyre Ratio was based on a small sample of Horsfields and therefore wasn't to be taken as gospel. My Ovid is only a youngster, I think his length is approximately 62mm and his weight fluctuates around 60g and I would like to know how that compares to other young Horsfields? Forgot to add that he is approximately 1 year old.

If people start posting then I will take all the sizes and edit them into my first post so that they are all the same place and we can get a good idea of averages...hopefully people are just at work at the moment and unable to post.

This is actually a really interesting experiment. If you get enough plots you can put together your own graph. From this you do a simple regression analysis (most graphing calculators do this) to come up with a general formula. This is basicaly what the 'McIntyre' ratio and the Jacksons ratio are. I'd be curious to see how the ratios differ.
You can also probably find a program online that will also do this for you. To get the most accurate formula it is better to get as many plots as possible. Again we are only looking at size and weight... age really does not matter. Quote:

Fred (1-2yr old) Aprox 100mm weight 180g Ted (1yr old) Aprox 80mm weight 115g would be great to make the shelled warriors horsefield ratio! Look forward to seeing the finished artical!!

In order for this to work the measurements have to be as exact as possible... approx. adds just that much more error.
