Default hi

hi viv i am so sorry about what has happened, you have done nothing wrong however i do agree with the others a poo sample needs to be tested incase the others have hexamita or other parasites as they will need to be treated, they could look healthy but you wont know untill you get the poo tested. Also it should be ok to hibernate them next year if they remain heallthy all year round but worry about that next year honey....i am thinking of you and i hope your other torts are ok, i too got mine from buyatortoise and am testing it at the moment for parasites, i am hoping she is ok...

yeah she did, they are in tortoise table. I was told that i had to watch that they didnt over feed, as she said tortoises do tend to eat alot when they are not hibernating.
I email buy a tortoise and guess what they didnt get back to me.

Well hopefully things will soon be worted then Viv. Good luck
Do you have torts with hexamita problems Loopey lass ? If your vet is thinking along these lines they will need a fresh urine sample as it will not show up in poo

You put a tort in a plastic box with no substrate and collect it that way. Often a car journey does the trick although for hexamita it needs to be almost as fresh as just passed. Obviously that is not an ideal way to transport a tortoise but far better than losing it

Default hi

not sure if my tort has hexamita, she seems healthy but i got her from buyatortoise so want to get her checked, my vet who is a tortoise specialist and used by the local tortoise society said you check for hexamita in her poo...everyone else says urine on here but i guess i have to go with what the vet says

I think a reptile specialist would know that you don't test for hexamita in the poo. Who is your vet? Anyway if it had hexamita it would be ill and would smell awful. It's appetite would be nil and it may have water retention showing as swollen rear legs, a bit like it had blown up. Treatment is generally urgent.
