I went out to a new wood's walking my dog this afternoon and came across this, I was wondering if anyone knew what it was and if it's edible? This is pretty much the whole thing it was just surrounded by grass

It's one of the Dead Nettles, not Stinging Nettle. Some are edable but without fowers it's difficult to say which it is.

It sort of looks like dead nettle... The stem is square looking which is a tell tell sign. But it's not showing any white flowers which is odd. The leaves look big for dead nettle too....
Not sure .... xx

Theres another nettle (non stinging) which is very similar to dead nettle, which is hemp nettle and that ones a no no. I'm not sure if hemp nettle has the white flowers though, others may know or maybe on the tortoise table website which lists edible/non edible weeds, Ashleigh xx

Thanks I have this book, but I find it hard to find the right photo and start doubting myself. I'm starting to recognise a good few plants now and find myself getting super excited whenever I do,
