UV/Heat Lamp
Hi changing from uv strip to combined uv heat lamp now my strip light is 6 mnths old.
what is the avarage distance from the substrate should it be mounted If it depends on temps it produces in the table, does it affect the amount of uv recieved Cheers Paul. |

I was thinking about this. my lamp is a 160w powersun combined bulb and its a bit too powerful for the hermanns and we have to have it quite away from the substrate or it will raise the temps up too much so we are going to get a 100w and see if it will be better.

There are diagrams on the http://www.uvguide.co.uk/index.htm site showing the spread and UV levels of various lamps, if yours is there you can work out what level of UV your torts are getting at any given distance.

Mine is about 12 inches away (100watt) and gives perfect temps.
the light spreads for most of the enclosure, and cos its a flood, you get UV though most of the enclosure, if its a spot, you will only get the UV in the spot that the light is. |
