Talking The moment I have been waiting for.

Well, I went to look at 4 females, possibly bringing 2 home, and I have ended up coming home with 5.

The girls are called Sexy, Beast, Sexy's Friend, and Stumpy.

Sexy is the one with the previously cracked shell, but it has healed and Stumpy has a stump instead of a foot on one of her back legs.

The 5th tortoise is a tiny little male called Malcolm. Apparently he isn't happy when on his own so lives with the girls. (I couldn't take the girls and leave Malcolm behind). I have all there paper work and they are all chipped.

I tried to take some photos but as they were tired and it is late, they all headed straight to the shed for bed, but I did get a few photos of the brave explorers.

Wow! They look lovely, and what a big bunch of torts. What sort of home did they come from?

Where they were living was lovely. There owner is a zoo keeper and was breeding them but she has had to give them up as her health isn't too good. She has had them for about 10 years. They are all good sized apart from Malcolm but as they are all rescues it is not possible to say how old they are exactly. The girls all came from a rescue of multiple torts when their elderly owner died, and Malcolm was from customs at Heathrow. I am hoping to bath and weigh/measure them over the weekend.

I am sure that Malcolm is a different subspecies from the girls though. I will get some better pics tomorrow and hope someone can identify him for me.
