Thank you!

Now can I challenge you with this one?! Also, I have noticed some torts have cream spurs and others black - are they different sub-species?

He is big and his spurs are white, but he's not saying whitei to me Darren He looks to be just a big graeca graeca male. I'm not seeing your male in him. By the way your male is awesome Darren Typical Testudo graeca whitei.

Tammie the second animal is also TGG but different location , these males of this type often turn up
for rehoming but rarely if ever do females appear of this type ,

Darren suggests whitei type and yes its possible that this form is a small tgg type from Algeria and more field work is being carried out to try and trace how many tgg types are in the locality of Algeria, whitei them selves do have a large variation in apperance so lets see what happens .

Don't think these are a compatible pair but if you need a more accurate ID please don't hesitate to contact Andy Highfield at the tortoise trust , if you mail the pictures to him from the TT start page he will be only to pleased to help.

Wonder if this pic helps as he is fast asleep at the moment and I do not want to disturb him - he is 65 years!

Of course he is separate from all of my other species!

Many thanks for helping me out!

Hi Tammie
As said this tortoise is classed as TGG location being a ? Andy may well help you out a bit more,
His overal appearance does resemble Darrens male whitei , but these tortoises are in general quite large far larger than your male , but i will add that two of my whitei femals resemble your male almost to the T whilst the third is like Darrens male .

Will post some pictures tonight with a picture of a tgg male identical to yours .

Dan / Darren

His long body and flared rear coastal scutes, also the pattern of the carapace !!

I would like to see the Rear spurs better.

You guys have far more ID experiance than me, but i am still firmly in the Whitei Camp...

What leads you guys toward TGG ???
