Interesting!
So i was browsing my new weed book, and noticed something interesting (well i thought it was interesting).
You may or may not remember a while ago i posted up some bristly oxtongue looking for an ID, although it didnt quite look right we came to the conclusion that it was. I later found some red tinged, slightly thinner stuff that nobody could ID, It felt exactly the same as the bristly oxtongue i was feeding. Anyway, When looking through the collins complete guide to british wild flowers, i came across "Hawkweed Oxtongue: Branched perennial stems that are bristly and sometimes reddish towards the base. Leaves like those of bristly oxtongue but narrow-oblong, toothed, covered in bristles that are not swollen based. " I think I may have just positively identified the weed that i thought was bristly oxtongue! Sorry for getting excited, im just not very good with weed ID.. it felt good to find it in the book!! lol just to be sure, here are the pics...
