I bet! No doubt it dominated the subject of conversation as it's so exciting.

I do wash mine as it makes it easier to candle them later on, I also weigh each one and log everything in a book, they get coded with a letter and number so I can tell at a glance which order they will hatch in, my logbook looks like this....

Gladys. Laid 1.5.15

Egg A1= 18g. Hatched 1.7.15. = 16g
Egg A2= 20g. Infertile
Egg A3= 19g. Hatched 3.7.15 = 17g
Phew, so she won't have any more eggs inside her, I weighed her last weekend and her weight was 1,076 gms, I weighed her after she laid the eggs and she weighed 1,052, does that sound ok i thought her weight would go down by more than this? i haven't weighed the eggs or washed them, but have marked them with a date and they are on vermiculite ready to go in the incubator when I set it up (hope it works I've had it in the loft for 2 years)

It's strange how Gladys 2nd egg weighed the heaviest but ended up infertile x

Thankyou Lynne, if anything I would have thought the big girls would lay eggs as I know for a fact Spart had success with both of them 2 years ago. Him and Roxy must have got it together somehow last year without me knowing sneaky torts lol

She is 17cm so fortunately big enough to lay, I was concerned she may not be big enough.

I have a herp 2 incubator I think, the one with the glass door, kinda looks like a drinks fridge, just hope it works, I'm going to bath all the horsfields this morning, do all the breakfasts then get the incubator down from the loft x

I incubated Chester's egg in a Herp II and he hatched, so fingers crossed yours will do the same. I didn't rely on the temp it said though and had a digital thermometer and hygrometer in there as well.

Oh that's great Emma, so the incubator should work ok then lol, ill have to pinch one of the temp probes from one of the torts enclosures as it has temp & hydrometer on it, until I buy a new one x

That's fantastic news!

The humidity should be about 70% I think but it's not necessary to be exact with it.

I'm sharing in your sense of excitement too - it's just such an amazing thing to see happen, or at least that's how I felt about it.
