If you haven't pierced the actual membrane I would say that's more encouraging. The baby is probably more likely to dry out now it's missing some egg shell therefore make sure that your humidity doesn't get too low.

All you can do is hope but I'd definitely be more positive. Hopefully in the next few days the little one will be preparing to hatch and hopefully the tiny lack of shell won't stop that.

Hi,Laura,
the first thing to do is try to cover the hole to stop it losing humidity, something like a peice of clean egg shell would be good

ok , a paper towel will soon dry out, do you have a small plastic container, if so place some damp kitchen roll in the bottom of this , then place the egg inside, the containwr will help to keep the humidity up

ok, you want it so there isnt much space between the egg and the side of the container, if there is use more damp kitchen towel, question hasit gone through the membraine ?
