Default Loggerhead Musk Turtles

Does anyone know whether I need a UV light to keep these turtles successfully?

I was told by the retailer that they do, but they spend 99% of their time in the water so I'm not so sure

Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi Jayne,
If your giving them a prepared food with D3 in it you won't have to go with the UV bulb. Almost all mud and musk turtles are nocturnal and get almost all of their D3 from the animal matter that they eat. Getting them outside in the warm weather will be good for them too
