Hi I have 2 False Map turtles (one baby and one 5") and a Penninsular Cooter ( 3 year old 8") it's great to see other people in the UK who keep turtles ; ). At the moment I got the baby in a 120G and the 2 bigger ones outside in a pond ; )

Can I ask if anyone mixes different types? I have a mounted pond outside and would love to be able to put my red ear and yellow belly in together but cant find any advice if this is the right thing to do! One is 13" and female and the other is also female about 5-6". Any advice would be gratefully received.

I mix mine. I believe North American basking turtles such as the Sliders, Maps, Cooters and Painteds can be mixed. I'd be worried about the difference in size though, smaller one could get hurt. I think it would depend on the personality of the larger one. In a pond they should have enough room to get away from each other so I think I'd be tempted to try just watch them very carefully ; )

Thanks for that! There is just so little info on terrapins anywhere even on the net! I've had my big one for many years now and have to admit that until I did the TT Instiute course everything was pretty much guess work

I've found loads of info on American forums but it's great to chat to people in the UK for a change
