Default Beatrice meets her handsome prince

I was very surprised when I found a frog sitting next to the tort. Although the frog moved when I appeared it didn't go very far. I dashed off to get the camera and when I came back it had moved back nearer to Beatrice. Not as close as before, but sat there for over an hour. Didn't mind me taking pictures, even when the camera flashed. Of course may have been too scared to move.

Of course Beatrice carried on eating as usual.

Frog is on the left of the picture in case difficult to spot.

And I was thinking that CB and I must be special having these little visitors.

Fortunately far too little for frogs legs. Ooh my poor little froggy, I won't tell him what you said.

I love frogs and toads in the garden. I wouldn't be too chuffed to see a grass snake though.

sorry to disappoint you all, but Surrey frogs are the best. when I was growing up in Surrey, we had three ponds, and literally hundreds of lovely frogs and newts, in fact very rare newts , a pond full of them.

Nope not sure on this one, I think you may find the surrey frogs came from Hampshire Suze, born and bred... I remember the migration then they hopped it back across the border cause you moved and 3 ponds were filled in. Mine live in an agapanthus pot and old tin bucket. They may send you a post card.

How did you know my dad filled in the ponds 😨 after I left home. The terrible thing is the newts were great crested newts, they are now protected, but we didn't know back then. But they were the most splendid frogs and newts.

Someone at the back of me filled in their large pond and I think this has lead to so many frogs and toads being in my garden! I go out in the evening and they are everywhere. I wonder if a lack of chemicals and lots of waterbowls also attracts them? (Oh and tonns of slugs and snails!) I found one in an unheated hide with 3 tiny Hermanns a couple of weeks ago! Big as them!
