I'm not sure about females laying regardless of being with a male but they wouldn't be fertile, I do know my female Ibera who was in her 40's had never been seen to lay until she went with my male which was a 'planned pregnancy' so to speak. I also know that my male wouldn't leave her alone if he was in with her, we tried leaving them together for a few days and it didn't make any difference he'd even be after her at night so we had no choice but to keep them apart, and because he only went with her in spring we didn't have eggs layed in the winter, she was very predicatable in when the first batch was layed and the space between the 3 batches per year. It did take it out of her though and she would eat anything she could find when carrying so she always had extra food at that time.

Lovely photographs and lots of excitement for you! I'm looking forward to following these eggs and hopefully seeing pictures of teeny tiny babies in the near future. X
