I alredy have a big uv lamp running across the top of her whole enclosure which also provides quite a bit of light.

Halogens are very nice, there is something about that light and heat that they love.
I think the only thing with halogens to bear in mind, is IMO - not to have them angled in any way. They are I think, much brighter with their light than normal spot bulbs. I changed mine earlier this year for a ceramic (I had ran out of halogens anyway and had not had them on since last winter). I wasnt comfortable with the glare at Lily's eyes - granted, they can easily move and turn and not face it, but it bothered me each time he did face into it when basking. So I probably would say yes, halogens are really great bulbs but need to be positioned in much the same way as a combined bulb (albeit without the height restriction of a combined) xx |

A combined bulb should last with it's UV output for at least 12 months. After that, slowly the UV will begin to decrease. Look to replace after about 15months. Hope that helps. You also get a 12 month warranty with the Arcadia combined bulbs, so if it blows/malfunctions - you can get it replaced, no quibbles. Just keep a proof of purchase or something. Tweet tweet, Birdy !! xx

Halogens have no UV..and you just replace when they blow or stop working. I would buy them in 2's. So you got one to hand. The light and heat are lovely with these. Try and get a flood halogen if you can.xx
