miracles do happen
I have had Amelia for about 41/2 years, I rescued her from a less than ideal environment, I have posted on here all my troubles with her not eating, I have force fed her for about 3 plus years and had some fantastic advice from all the shelled warrior keepers, thank you all for that, nothing changed, vets visits, tests done, nothing, she would just not eat, then end of last year she started to eat small amounts and I was thrilled because she started to move about a tiny bit, my other worry was she was like a stone she never moved, the eating went on for a few weeks the in January this year she stopped again, I was in despair, I decided as she did not have any zest for life as my others torts do I was going to let her go, so for months I gave her baths but no food, I offered it to her but did not put it in her mouth, I watched her get weaker and weaker every day, it broke my heart, I put her out in the sunshine when it got warmer and one day put cucumber in front of her and she ate it, since that day in the spring she has got stronger and tears about the garden now, she does not stop eating, she is acting exactly the same as the others, she would only eat cue at first but I slowly introduced other weeds etc in small doses and bingo she is eating weeds now. am I pleased. well you guess I am over the moon. Maybe it was the Arkvits, maybe it was the weather, I don't know, all I do know is after many years I have a healthy little girl, needs feeding up a bit but she is trying her hardest.

That's just wonderful news. Wishing Amelia a good healthy appetite and that she'll maintain it and put on plenty of weight over the coming months. Well done for keeping faith in her and doing the best you could. It must have been so hard and heartbreaking seeing her like that. I'm really happy for you.

Thank you all for your good wishes, for the first time since I have had her I have enough faith in her to know she will go from strength to strength, I have just checked her and she looked up with a yellow mouth stained from the huge dandelion flower she was eating, me and my husband just stand and watch and smile, he has seen me get so upset over her in the last few years. A friend told me to have her put down and I was at the end of my tether, I did consider it but my lovely husband said, think about it, you will never forgive yourself, just give her water and let her fade on her own. And that is how it was day in, day out till whatever jump started her. her eyes are sparkly and she is in and out of the flower bed, she has even been flirting with the males through the fence(hussy) I am beyond happy, I admit I did nearly give up because I felt she had no quality of life just sitting there but now. . All I can add is life is good, and I have just been presented with another gorgeous grandson a few days ago, don't get any better.
