Ok, I'll ring hubby and tell him not to get the cable yet. We'll check the wiring first with a different bulb and give it a good wiggle

I don't know how much cable would be but a new holder from here is £13 for the medium size. No point getting one though if it isn't faulty. finding out the problem could be tricky when it doesn't happen every time but lots of people were complaining about their bulbs flickering or cutting out last winter.
I had a car in which the accelerator stuck on sometimes but every time I went to the garage with it it wasn't doing it. I even had to leave it with them for a week and the manager used it every day to travel to and from work which was about 25 miles each way and it didn't do it during that time I eventually got lucky |

Hmm thanks for that link - I think I will get a new holder if it's dodgy as it saves messing around.
See how it goes tonight |

AHHHHH
i bought a basking bulb and now that has blown! I went to take the bulb out and the inside of the holder as fell apart in my hands! The ceramic screw in bit has snapped in half and a circle bit of metal has come out! Could it of been the holder blowing my bulbs?? |

Quick update on mine - it's working fine again
Just read an interesting thread on TT forum, the holders can cause the bulbs to over heat. AH says he uses his bulbs without holders and doesn't have any props. The silver coating is apparently the reflector so you don't need to add an additional one. He's done various tests and no UV/heat is lost. http://www.forttex.com/index.php?mai...products_id=73 For a cheap ceramic bulb holder... Just thought I'd add that bit of info, might be handy to some. |
