Default hermanns

hi i was speaking to someone who sells torts, he has 4 yr old hermanns
i asked which sub species it was but he said he hadnt realy cheaked, he thinks
they are hermanni hermanni because the have no spur on the tail!
is this fella speaking bull or is this a characteristic between sub species
i know that the plastrons are different - h.hermanni having 2 continious stripes
and h.botegeri blotches

what other characteristics are there - i know they are very
simular - they are 4 yr old and almost 100mm in length

Hermanns should have a spur so sounds like a different species never mind sub species.

It doesnt sound like he breeds them if he doesnt know what they are.
Check they really are bred by him by looking at the cites certificate and if he is not a breeder then you would be best to purchase elsewhere. There is a breeder list here but there are also other lists elsewhere and someone can help you find a breeder near you.

Oh yes I should have mentioned that. If he doesn't know which species then he is most probably a dealer.
