Hi Louise,
Glad to hear Poppy is getting back to normal after her little accident, I would myself wait until the wounds have well and truly healed before letting her out, there should be less chance of her getting infections that way, because you know what is in her inside environment whereas outside ???????? I am not saying don't put her out on a nice day to get some rays of sun, but this can be done in a tub or table top. Ade

I agree with Ade and would not let her come into contact with soil or hemp etc until the puncture wounds have healed. These are the worst ones for getting infected

The best way to test for an infection Louise is with your nose . It should have no smell or just a tortoise smell. If the wound smells rotten an infection has set in.
I'm glad Poppy's doing better Dan

Hi Guys,
I thought I'd show a few pics of Poppy's healing shell. She's eatting well but is much more subdued and seems a bit forlorn? Does that sound normal and will she ever recover her feisty bubbly spirit? Could it be the Baytril still in her system? Here they are............... Thought I'd include a picture of her lovely face too so that you could all see the tort you helped to save Louise

Louise great to see she's recovering and well the lethargy may be caused by the enviroment change is she still in hospital care or back in her old enclosure

Thanks Darren.
She's back in her old envoirnment. Do you think its time for a revamp to perk her interest up? Change things around a bit maybe? Plant a few more plants maybe? Thanks Louise

Louise a bit of change will do no harm but don't change her retirment place tortoises feel secure in a regular hideout,
it may be the cooling temps thats making her lethargic as summer will be coming to an end soon she possibly senses this change Darren
