i dont have a water bowl in at the mo. may be putting one in soon but when one was in mine didnt use it very much at all.
michaelangelo never used it and the little ones only used it now and then. they always have a good drink in the bath though. Ive found my leopards spend all there time on the meadow hay and hardly ever use the sand soil substrate in the other half. |

is betadine better to use on cuts than baytril. currently when my torts are injured i use baytril to prevent infection after i wash it with warm water.

Yes carl that is what I have been advised to use, to prevent infection. Think you only need to apply Baytril when infection is present.
Also I have been advised that it is because of the lack of water/baths that these sores have developed, so perhaps it would be a good idea for you to put a bowl in there for them, so you dont have this problem. Vivienne |

i think they will be fine viv cos they wouldnt bathe that often in the wild and i bathe mine everyday.
ill have some of that off you then sarah. What can u use for torts eyes, leonardo always has his eyes shut together and only opens them when wet, he needs something on them i guess but there is no sign of infection and all ive heard of is to use cod liver oil.[/quote] |

betadine is better as an infection preventer baytril is used to combat infection already present so yes use betadine. For your tortoises eyes again cod liver oil is safe and none toxic it works a treat as well . Vee my lepoards always had access to a water bowl and used it daily thay drank freely as well every day. When i first got some very small hatchlings about 6-8 months old they had really bad RNS and were very dehydrated they used there water bowl to soak them selves sometimes for quite a while on a regular basis. should we all be keeping a bit in our medicine cupboards just in case especially the betadine say if a tort were to cut itself linda |

Betadine stores really well Baytril has a shelf life not certain how long but it does crysatilise if kept too long.
Darren forgot yes i keep betadine and baytril handy just in case

Shelf life
HI all batril has a shelf life of 28 days when mixed,So when you get any from any vets you have 28 days to use it.
