do you chop up (cut up!) the catcus before give to little ones or give them the whole "leaf" to leave to them break it up themselves??

What I do is to remove the spines first then chop up the cactus into bits. Its tough stuff and my smaller ones don't have a strong enough jaw to break bits off.
My tortoises do eat opuntia cactus but I know some people say theirs don't seem interested. Its incredibly high in calcium so its worth a try.

I cut the opuntia into small strips then sprinkle some cuttlefish bone.
My star loves it! |
