Night time temperatures
Hi.
Despite it being "summer" it is getting quite chilly here, more so at night. At what temperatures should I bring my torts in at night? They are 14 months old and don't have any heat when outside at night (although obviously they are safe and sheltered). Thanks. Somewhere I remember they should be in if it is under 10 degrees Chris |

Hi Chris,
10 degrees is a safe temp over night, so long as their night time housing is nice and snug, not drafty then they should be ok at these temps.

10 degrees is the recommended lowest temperature for meds, though I'd play it safe and bring them in before then.

Finding a reliable forecast site is useful. Thats what I do, or check temps on Teletext. They are not usually that far out.

Hi Nikki,
You could also use a thermometer which records the highest and lowest temps. You need to reset this every day to get an accurate reading. Weather reports are ok in general but town / city temps are always fractionally higher temps than the countryside.

I have been bringing mine in the last two weeks because of unpredictable night temps plus all the rain is making it rather damp outdoors,
All adults are doing fine though and have been out 24/7 since late April D
