On a serious note do the torts not have to be separated in boxes with the fridge method? It looks like if they move at all they will heave their buddy over the edge of the shelf.

Yes, I'd have thought so; especially as they are not separted by being in cardboard boxes or plastic containers!

This photo appeared many moons ago..when I was more naieve and had never heard of or used the fridge method, I still dont.
I broached the question of the safety and "rightness" of such a method on another forum. I was shot down in flames by the lady in question and told I was a trouble maker and she expected no more of me. Despite having never met or spoken to her in my life! Yes, it was posed for the cameras...despite that I would not think it was very comfortable or safe for the poor tortoises, albeit for a short time.

She's certainly got a lot of tortoises! She'd need a fair few fridges to hibernate that lot in boxes. What a strange photo!
