Great tortoise i would say its a female hermans from the shape and marking,

Hi Steve, welcome to the site.
As the others say, stop the pellets - they're really not good, far too high in protein despite what they say. Also, you mention fruit and veg - that's another no-no! A Hermann should be fed on weeds and flowers like Sandy says. They're free, easy to find and best of all it's the most natural and nutricious food you can provide for your tortoise. Have a look at the weeds section on the main page and the sub forum here. It's in the process of being updated, but will give you more than a good start. Limestone flour needs to be supplimented on any diet to ensure that your Hermann is getting a good source of calcium carbonate. As well as Limestone flour, a few times a week sprinkle some Nutrobal on the weeds you provide too to ensure you're giving enough Vitamins too. |

orginally 'she' was called 'JOCK' as my parents had been to Scotland for a holiday without my brother and i now we call her FREDA ..original i know ... she has a habit of following me around the garden as i work in it . steve |
