Mixing Species in Hibernation Question
Today I got asked the following question "It is safe to hibernate hermans, marginated and spur thighs in the same shed, the tortoises will be in their own individual insulated boxes?
My answer was No as mixing species could still risk viruses etc. Could I please have your opinions???? Thank you

I don't understand your rational. They are in their own individual containers/enclosures. How is this different than having many different species in different enclosures in the same room or yard.
I would think there would be no problems at all. Quote:

I am not an expert in any way, but I would have thought it'd be OK, they are in boxes, diaseases can't pass through plastic?

Hi I keep the same species you mentioned all in the same shed, with dividers for species/sex's & they are fine. I wouldnt have thought it would be any different hibernating them in the same area.

Hibernating mixed species in a shed would be ok , however i wouldn't mix species if you intend to use the fridge method .
