I think I might keep some Turtles when i'm older.

They are being bred by a few specialist hobbyists here in the UK. However, I would not say that they are common.
Their striking colour and diminutive size makes them very desirable I think.

I am a tortoise man rather than turtle, but these litttle ones always get me. They are on the list for when I retire. 28 years to go and counting!

in anticipation of this target date, I thoroughly recommend reading the book; "Year of the Turtle", by the American Naturalist/Artist David Carroll, and a copy of this wonderful print by the UK Wildlife artist, Tell Hicks:
