Ibera
Hello was wondering if anyone can help me. I have two ibera tortoises (Max and Blaze) who are now 6 and half years old. Recently I have noticed one of them has been showing more interest in the other so has been following the other around a lot etc. Yesterday I saw max ram Blaze twice then starting mating Blaze - as Blaze started walking away Max went to bite at blaze foot twice but luckily didn't mange to really get the skin. I then separted them and have been again today when I have put them outside. I was wondering do you think they are just generally one female one male so the mating was always going to be inevitable or could it be that they are trying to show their dominance. Any help would be appreciate Thankyou.

Sounds like a male and female, but I will leave some of the experts to answer this for you as I have no experience of iberia. It may be useful to post pictures of them.
When you are new on the forum it takes a day for your message to upload, so thought ?I would reply so that you appear in today's messages (Wed). Welcome to the forum.

Dave , very welcome. Posting some pickies would help establish male male dominance or female male friendliness. Is it first time this has happened? Either way I would be wary as Ibera have a nasty bite and if one cant get away that will cause masses of stress. biting back legs, circling and or ramming is common for either male male or M on F. One may have come into maturity more that the other - age is about right, but have known younger, CB

It does sound like you have a male and a female, I would separate them ASAP . If he continues to do this to her, she will become stressed, which can lead to illness, and he can cause serious damage. I agree , the age sounds about right.

I have took pictures ready to post but I am struggling on actually posting them as I can not find anywhere to upload the images?

Dave , you need to upload your photos to a host site, like photobucket , then from there, you copy and then paste to your thread on here. But you need to have done 5 posts on here first before you can post pictures, you're nearly there.
