Default Lizard shedding problem

Can anyone help? My bearded dragon has a 3 inch band of dead skin in the middle of his tail. It's been like it for about 2 weeks now and isn't showing any signs of breaking up and coming off. I am worried it will restrict the blood flow and he may lose part of the tail. I have just wrapped it in moist kitchen roll. Is there anything else I can do?

Thanks Kelly. He's never had this before, he usually just sheds. no problem. Not sure what has changed this time, maybe it's the warm weather we are having has upset his balance.

My son's adult gecko has had trouble shedding around her feet and her previous owner didn't manage that well and so she consequently lost a toe. Now when she sheds he pops her in the bath for a while and so far she's had no problems around her toes.
I hope Cosmo soon manages to loosen the dead skin Wendy. It can't be the most comfortable feeling on his tail.

It wont be easy getting him in a bath, he hates it. But he'll have to put up with it. I think I'll put an extra water bowl in his tank too, just to try and bring the humidity up a bit. The wet kitchen roll seems to have made the edges lift a bit so I'll do that a few times a day as well. I'd hate him to lose his tail, you see so many beardies with stumps and it looks so sad.

Aww...poor Cosmo. At least the wet kitchen roll is having an effect. Hopefully that combined with the extra humidity will help to lift the dead skin off his tail. I'm sure it'll all come off in a day or two and he won't lose his tail. He's too beautiful to lose his tail!!

Well he was plunged into a washing up bowl and wasn't at all happy, I bear the scratches to prove it. He is now sitting on his log with 3 water bowls and the viv thoroughly damped down. The skin is no longer the parchment colour it was, it's turned a more grey so looks like we are winning.

Fingers crossed then Wendy. I imagine he's a bit cross about the bath but hopefully it helped.
