Chip
I've just called an exotic vet and asked about chipping my tortoise. They have quoted £43 does that sound a reasonable price? also I asked if they do the mini chips (read about them on here) and she said the chips are about the size of a grain of rice but the needles huge.
I don't like the idea of a big needle going into my tortoise Any advice where I could get a mini chip done please? x

Blimey Lynne thats dear I paid £14 each when I had mine done. That was in June which is annual mmicrochipping month & there are promotions on but I think the promotion was only about 10%.
Think you can buy the mini chips & you get a vet to ft them for you. I know the thought of a huge needle is horrible but I held mine whilst the vet did them & it didnt seem to bother them at all - all wre back in the garden, eating within an hour |

£25 is about the going rate for a chip,£15 if you wait until june.it seems to be taking quite a while for the nano chips to become more widely available.
unless someone knows different!!!! |

ooh i didnt know you could buy the chips separately?
would it be cheaper to buy the chips and get a vet to fit them or just go to the vets and get it all done there. |

I know what you mean Lynne (about the needle). I was bad enough when Peanut had one Baytril injection.

I'm thinking about getting mine done this year too Lynne, but their little legs still don't look big enough for a big needle.
