Road grit and pets warning
Please remember to wash your cat or dogs feet after they have been outside. Road grit contains antifreeze, a friends dog died from liver failure after licking her feet when she was walked over gritted areas.

Oh my goodness, this is very scary! I sometimes walk my dogs up the road! My cats don't go out, so they're safe! Surely they can't be allowed to put peoples pets at risk?!

There is no anti freeze in the salt they put on the roads. It is rock salt from mines in three areas of the country. The only way it can harm your pet is if they ingest large quantities of it, the same thing would happen if anyone ingested large amounts of salt.
