Diet for a Sulcata
I am now the proud owner of a Sulcata called Fluffy She weighs in at 6 half lbs and measures 12 ins My question is what else do they eat other than grass? I have offered weeds dandelions florrete mix kale and cabbage all to be refused She has eaten rose petals banana strawberry and a little T Rex pellets but just prefers to munch on my lawn Do i just leave it at that ? Also is the readigrass for bedding or food ?Look forward to your replies Judy

hi Judith she is quite a big girl so should be grazing most days even in the winter once she has had a warm up of course.i would offer her some mixed coarse weeds just so you can add some limestone flour to it for extra calcium.also start to add small amounts of readigrass she should eat it with the weeds if only by accident.then if you increase the percentage of readigrass to weeds gradually, she should be taking it readily by winter time which will help you keep up the roughage levels in her diet.when weeds are scarce and on days when its to cold to graze.

They will spend most of their time grazing grasses, but you can offer a selection of weeds and flowers along with the usual nutrobal and calcium supplements. You could also try your sulcata with some pre alpin. I find that it is so useful during the colder winter days when it is too cold for them to go out.

No I wouldn't give them fruit. A variety of grasses all year round with a good selection of edible plants and flowers.
