Not sure, I could be talking drivvle of course...Alan knows I do this, dont I AL? AL, just a quickie, have Arcadia given a date for release of the 120/100w MV yet? Cant remember if you said...? Also, would you say then that despite the heat factor of the Arcadia 160w, would you say its still really for the larger enclosure, rather than something like what I have - 5.5ft x 2.5 ft?? Plus as said just now, the higher you rise it the less UV torty is gonna get?? Unless thats more drivvle...I need to eat now ... |

I am not running the Arcadia bulb just now so don't really know, I only tried it one day. I was going to get a new solarglo and run them both from scratch to see how they compare. The higher the bulb the less the strength of the UVB will be but it will also be over a wider area. it would only mean they would sit longer under the UVB zone probably much like what they would with a tube I suppose |

I have a 160 watt in my 4ft enclosure. As long as its extra high ( about 18 - 20 inches ) then the cool end is fine.

Hmmm...yeah get your point there AL, being that it covers a wider area but is it not important to give torty a place that he doesnt be exposed to UV?? If it covers too much of an area..he cant go in and out of it, as he might want?? I am sure Dave said something along these lines before.
Blimey...see theres another thing I cant remember! It must be my ripe old age of 38! I have eaten now...so thats not an excuse anymore! xx |

Actually...i think I am sleep deprived, so put it down to that. After all why would the larger wattage ones be available if that isnt what they are meant for - as in spreading the UV...(DUH!....)

it won't cover the whole enclosure though and there should be a hide or two for it to go in if need be. it's the same outside, to get out of UVB they'd have to go into a hide
