I don't see where proper environmental conditions were provided to allow the tortoises to survive.

This appears to be another 'study' where the conclusion was determined and the data was fit to 'prove' the conclusion.

I'm assuming that the data points were taken from keepers in the northern lattitudes. I'm making another assumption in that many of the keepers were new keepers.

Another flaw is that the data points were taken from a variety of different sources where control is virtually impossible.

How can they draw the conclusion that not hibernating caused the deaths outside of the fact the animals were put down so the keeper didn't have to take care of them over the winter?
