Default Roadside dandelions

There's some beautiful dandelions by the roadside but I'm concerned that they may have absorbed pollutants/ nasties from the petrol. Is washing them sufficient or would you not give them?

The key is to try and avoid any weeds that you think is either, sprayed or heavy traffic areas, country lanes could be o.k. But when needs must, i would wash well.

If it is a very busy road, then no I would not use them, I don't anyway, no matter where I pick them I always wash them

I'd say no - the lead will be absorbed by the plant. It's really a question of proportion. Quiet road - ok. Duel carriageway - avoid

There hasn't been lead in fuel for about 10 years.
