Karma swallowed a huge hair!!!!!
I was giving Karma her bath there when I noticed she looked as if she was "struggling" to do a poo ... she has never been constipated so I was a bit worried. I put some warmer water in & she started to produce but there was a hair hanging out of her. I remembered reading about this happening to someone else (possibly Fluffy) & someone saying no matter how tempting do not pull. I kept topping up her bath water & she would do another bit of poo. The hair was really long - we all have/had really long hair - I was able to cut some of the length away (well away from her bum) to save it tangling in her legs & pulling as she was moving about.
Eventually she passed the end of the hair so I dried her & put her back in her table & she was thrashing about the table climbing up at the corners etc. I fed her a nice pile of dandies & she scoffed them. I feel really stressed & upset by what happened & we definately won't be allowing her out on the floor - which is a shame as she loves being out! So just a warning to be really aware if you let your tort wander ... the thing is she is always closely guarded when out & about & she has never been seen eating or nibbling at anything when out. I suppose it could've just fallen in to her table I suppose. POOR KARMA

Sometimes the hair is from the soil, there's loads of fibres in it plus ordinary hair can fall in too

Yeh my topsoil in my table sometimes has *fluff* like balls of materiel. i keep checking it in the mornings and taking them out. It's topsoil bought from a bag.
Im thinking of just using normal topsoil in the garden in the future, because no matter what topsoil i used thats shop bought it seems to evaporate somehow to dust

If you really have to have them wandering around (I dont recomend it at all) you could put down some tapauling or the like, that can be washed and disinfected.

I get fibres in my topsoil too although they are nowhere near the length you describe. I remove the stuff as soon as I see any in the table
