hi i am the proud new owner of shelly i think she is a she lol she is 4 years old and i got her along with housing from a lady thats just had a baby and didnt have any time for her

origionally i wanted a red foot but im very happy with shelly

there are a few things im worried about though
what does the temp have to be for the basking lamp
and since we brought her home yesterday she has just burried her self down in her bedding?

i forgot to say she is a hermann

congrats on your new little one! I think the temps should be between 30-32'c for basking area. When I got Nigel at the weekend he burried himself for a few days, but he's more outgoing now and enjoys having a wonder around his enclosure. Can't wait to see pics of Shelly!

Congratulations on your Hermann, you will find that they will hide for a while, new surroundings, s/he will come around in time. Just build up you routine and s/he will be fine. dont forget the warm baths.

Yes it cant take a while for some to get used to a new setup. Some ajust very quickly some dont. Temps under heat should be 30-32 as has been said. Also you will need to keep your tortoise hydrated, by bathing at least once a day for a while. As young tortoises can dehydrate very quickly.

shelly is doing really well she loving her dailey baths and walks around the room there is no stopping her lol
