Default Tortoises can hiss!

I learned this yesterday! For the first time ever, I gave my Horsefield a small slice of a strawberry. As he was eating it, it fell off the slate and onto the hemp. Bits were sticking to the strawberry and I was worried about him choking, so I went to pick the hemp off and move it back to the slate. And he hissed at me!!

Does anybody else’s do this?

I've been hissed at a few times I think I read somewhere its when the tort withdraws into its shell quickly air is expelled causing the hissing noise.
