Lucky Escape
The moment you get a call off your partner to say 'Don't worry but Ralph had a bit of a mishap!'
Dave got home opened the kitchen door to be engulfed by smoke then the ringing of the smoke alarm. He ran into the kitchen and saw Ralph's ceramic heat lamp was on the table surface smouldering away. He switched off the plugs and pulled it off and placed water over it.... Thankfully as most of you know Ralph has a ramp to his table and wonders my 17ft kitchen/diner, and there he was still doing laps. We got him some fresh air and gave him a bath. I have checked him over and no burns and he has eaten and his breathing sounds normal. We will keep a close eye on him and if anything changes he will be checked by the vet. I am just so relieved he is ok, it could have been so much worse! We will have to build him a new table as it burnt right through the table, through the lino through the latex and burnt the floor boards.....we will have to access how to fix all that tomorrow. We have patched it up for the time being and guess where I found him sleeping! Needless to say I have covered it over and moved him but he is back on it again.....sometimes I think he does it on purpose lol |

Sara, what a scary thing to come home and find! Thanks goodness Ralph is okay.
Do you know how the ceramic lamp fell down? I'm so relieved for you that he's okay and that your partner got home before anything worse occurred. A lucky escape indeed!

We think Ralph had tried to climb and managed to know it off some how!
Needless to say it will be suspended in the next few days for safety reasons. |

Was it held up by the clamp lamp equipment by any chance? I don't use use these anymore after I had a lamp keep falling off, it's the 2 bits that sit stupidly onto the pointy bolt bit that sits in the coil bit.
I suspend all my heat bulbs by wire now, cable tied onto a screwd in garden bracket x

It was Bev but never had any issues before, and Ralph likes to climb so we think he might have help it fall.....
Well we have assessed the damage this morning and after removing the burnt stuff it's shown this: Not only has it burnt through the floor board its melted all the installation! Gonna be a busy weekend. |
