Stop spending so much time snogging people ? Or is it an old-wives tale that they are caused by this ?

Have a really hot cup of tea, and place the hot cup on the coldsore.

The herpes simplex virus does not like it hot, and it helps the coldore heal much quicker.

did you know that you can get Zovirax on prescription, can work out cheaper than the shops, hubby gets it free as he takes thyroxine and he's prone to cold sores, they don't tell you that in the chemists and you have to ask the doctors but its there.

Ear wax? Eurgh!

I don’t mean to worry you – but the nurse in me has to say…
It might be an idea to get it checked out – as there is a chance you had Ocular Herpes Simplex rather than just a sty and need an anti viral ointment.
This form of herpes simplex to the eye can sometimes appear to be clearing and then flair back up more severely with complications. I don’t think it applies to everyone that gets a sty – it’s just as you say you now have a cold sore as well.

Fingers crossed though, that it’s just a sty.

And I swear by Zovirax for cold sores.
