I am really glad they are loving the new substrate, its closer to what they have in the wild so to me its better and what I use, but if I have problems with it in the future then I will try something else but so far so good

I use 100% soil. Only because they were out of stock of sand at Argos when I put the enclosure together. He seems to be OK on it though so I don't think I'll bother with sand.

I'm having the same trouble (although I don't know if mines male or female yet). He only comes out the hide when I move him. He's active all day if I move him but if I don't he just stays in the hide all day. I've had him checked over by a vet and had him wormed (but none came out) and he's still like it.

No, no ideas at all. I suppose as long as I'm here to wake him in the morning he will be OK but I'm going away for 2 nights soon so I hope he will be OK. I wake him at about the same time as I wake my kids up in the morning so it's just like having an extra kid to get ready.

Was it okay to begin with Valerie then started being like that after a while? One of mine was okay for a few days when I got him but after that he wouldn't eat (different to your problem I know but) and it took about 7 weeks before he started to eat properly and behave 'normally'

No he's been like that since I got him but I've only had him a month. I'm hoping it's just a 'settling in' problem.
