The only time I interfere with their food (apart from the odd hand feeding) is either when I am feeding them Cactus or when I grate some carrot once a week for them. Obviously, my baby tortoises can't chomp through the tough skin!

I chop up their food a bit otherwise they were lifting it off the slate and eating it in mid air. As one of them has a bit of a beak I'm trying to get him to eat of the slate more. If I leave big bits of food in they run off with it to eat it somewhere soft! By eating smaller bits they are having to struggle a bit more. That's my theory anyway

I just let Fluffy get on with it. He uses his front foot to hold the leaf down then takes a bite!
The rare time i have hand fed him a treat, he took it so delicately off me, like a real gent! LOL |
