I meant to say golden coin, I think it was because I was reading about golden threads.....
I went to China once and babies were being sold on a market in polystyrene drinks cups...... Can't remember how much they were, I think it worked out about £1 per turt..... And also, there were loads of little kids picking them up, kissing them and alsorts..... I wondered if the had heard of salmonella over there.....
I hated it.......

Poor things! I can't just let them do that! I'll buy them ALL and look after them so no more harm can be done when I win the lottery. This isn't a joke.

I am off with a couple of friends in April to an International Conference being held at the Asian Turtle centre in Munster. This will be a gathering of many of the leading Turtle biologists from all over the world to discuss the Asian Turtle crisis.
So hopefully later that month I can report on the four day Conference, and get some up to date feedback.
If you have won the lottery by then please let me know and I am sure that we can sort something out!

I was in Shanghai earlier in the year and went to an animal market. There were a few stalls selling turtles. Here are some pics I took:

So sad I also saw the fishmongers in the streets with really big ones in tanks next to all th fish. I wanted to rescue them!!
